Turn lines into a solid object via the join lines tool. Make sure your lines are connected via their end points to form a closed shape, select all of the lines and click the ‘Join’ tool from the advanced tools in the left panel or advanced tools palette. Once the lines join they will create a solid shape applying the default fill to it. This also works the opposite way, you can use the Break tool to break up a solid shape into individual lines.
